Location: Lamonds Lagoon is situated about 95 km southwest of Mt Garnet off the Gunnawarra Road and is just 150km to Atherton, 180 km Mareeba and 320km to Charters Towers. Weekly Saleyards operate at Mareeba and Charters Towers. Area: 26000ha (64220acres) + Special Lease 453ha (1119acres) Title: PTA L5203 PH1063: PH 22/5203 Parish of Kinrara & PTB L5203:PH 22/5203. Parish of Glendhu Rainfall: Approx 750mm pa (30 inches) Carrying Capacity: Lamonds Lagoon has a proven ability to run 3500hd of mixed cattle or 2000 breeders and followers. At present the property is running a herd of approx 2000 head due to recent fires and Cyclone Yasi damage to infrastructure, however with the current good season, abundant water & feed Lamonds would be capable of carrying many more... possibly 4000 mixed cattle. Country: Lamonds Lagoon is a mix of basalt soils, sandy & alluvial frontages and granite forest soils. The approximate breakup is 2200ha frontage country along 10km of Burdekin river, 3500ha of brown & red basalt country along the western side of Anthill Ck, 8000ha of red soil fronting Walters Plains Lake and Badgers Ck.20km of sandy & alluvial country fronting the eastern side of Anthill Ck. Areas of granite and sandy soils are interspersed through the more elevated area and soil test results of the basalt soils of 33-55ppm Phosphorus make Leucaena a possibility. The country is timbered with Box, Bloodwood, Ironbark, Moreton Bay, Yellow Stringy, Scented Gum, Poplar Gum, Tea Tree, Lancewood, Mahogany, Blue Gum and river Gum. Pastures are dominated by Black Spear, Kangaroo Grass with prolific introduced species like Keppel Bluegrass, Indian Couch, Angleton grass, Urachloa with a large presence of Seca stylo. Pondage Pasture: Approximately 10ha has been dammed to form a pondage pasture area highly suitable for weaner management or fattening. In this area Hymenachne, Paragrass and Couch proliferate and in this higher rainfall climate it is easy to see replication of the idea into a much more significant contributor on the property. Yards: Lamonds Lagoon has one set of cattle yards with 1000head capacity located at the house. The yards are large well-built timber yards with new steel crush, drafting pound and some internal divisional panels and are equipped with branding facilities, dip and covered crush. The large Hay Shed is located at the cattle yards. Water: There are numerous watering points on the property including dams, bores and permanent waterholes in creeks, rivers, lagoons, springs and the Lake. Bores: Henderson Bore - approx 180ft, 2500gals/hr, submersible pump, Genset, pumps to 4 tanks & 4 troughs Bronte's Bore - approx 180ft, 12000gals/hr, submersible pump, Genset, tank & trough Devils Hole Bore - 120ft, 1500gals/hr, solar panels, tank & trough House Bore - 100ft, 440gals/hr, submersible pump, rural power Dams: the property has 3 permanent dams Major Creeks: Anthill Ck runs of 20km along western edge of the property, has permanent waterholes. Burdekin River - approx 5 channels of the river run for 10km through the southern end of the property creating lagoons and permanent waterholes. Walters Plains Lake - semi-permanent, 28km circumference, 2/3rd frontage in Lamonds Lagoon, has the boundary fence passing through the middle, full at present but will dry up in low rainfall years but then covered with marine couch. Springs: one permanent spring Paddocks: Until Cyclone Yasi struck in February 2011 the property was fully boundary fenced and internally fenced into 7 major paddocks and 10 holding paddocks. Since that time there has been an almost total re-build of fencing resulting either upgraded fencing or totally new fencing. Today Lamonds has 4 major paddocks and 8 smaller or holding paddocks. Infrastructure: Homestead complex consists of 2 houses, machinery shed, cattle yards & hay shed and house dam. The homestead is of block construction with a breeze-way separating living/dining/office area from bedrooms etc. The house has 4 bedrooms an open plan dining, kitchen and living area, office and coldroom and is set in green lawns overlooking the bushland, Anthill Creek and dam. The 2nd house is a 'Logan Home', 3-bedroom, currently unused except for when casual labour is on property, is of solid construction but requiring some repairs and maintenance. The Machinery shed is 16x12m, dirt floor and closed on two sides. The Hay Shed is 10x15m, located at the cattle yards and closed in on 2 1/2 sides. Molasses storage is located adjacent the homestead area, is a well set up steel storage tank holding approximately 50 tonnes, gravity in and out. Cattle: This is a good quality Brahman cross herd with 100% Red Brahman sires for the past 10 years. Included in the sale will be approximately 2000 breeders + herd bulls + followers subject to the May/June 2015 mustering round. Plant & Machinery: Contact Agent
